Authentic - Keep in Touch

Hey everyone! I hope your Christmas and New Year holidays were wonderful, that you got everything you needed and that you took time for yourself, your friends and your family. It’s good to finally be back in the swing of things. For me 2007 started with a high fever and something that resembled Ebola. It may have been sickness or it could have been the results of my failed attempt to two-step at Darin’s place on New Year’s Eve…maybe it was Wendi’s cookies…whatever the case, for me physically 2007 can only get better! I appreciate your understanding about the last minute changes to our rehearsals. I’m always impressed by your response to change. Thanks!

This week we’re back to ‘normal’ – whatever that may be so I look forward to seeing you in Choir, Praise Band, Praise Team, Instrumental Ensemble, Tech & Drama at our usual times in our usual places. This semester holds several exciting things for us, from Easter preparations that include Miss America to a Night of Praise and laying the foundation for a new CD there’s a ton of work to be done and it all starts tonight.

You’ve become familiar with the ways I keep in touch with everyone; through email, theScore, phone calls, letters and postcards. This semester we’ve launched a new way to keep in touch. It’s called a podcast. While some of you may be familiar with this I’m certain others are not. A podcast is a way through the internet I can get songs and information to you at your computer on a regular basis. Even more convenient is the fact that if you have an iPod or most any other portable MP3 player you’ll be able to download and take this information or these songs with you.

Another useful thing about a podcast is the ability to subscribe to it. Using a free tool like iTunes, GOOGLE or YAHOO Readers you can set it up so that any time new content is added to the CamCast your reader automatically updates with the newest information. Once your reader is up to date you can listen, read and download the songs and information to you computer, your iPod or other portable MP3 player so you can take it with you.

But wait, I don’t have an iPod or MP3 player! That’s okay. We’ll still give out listening CD’s during choir rehearsals. You’ll still have printed music in your hands every Wednesday. theScore will keep coming almost every week. This is just one more way I can quickly and easily get music to people. Every semester I give out a couple of CD’s. One is filled with choir music the other filled with congregational music. Usually I only give the congregational CD to the band. So far we’ve done almost every song off the CD’s I’ve given out but it’s not uncommon for us to get our CD in January, then by March forget that we’ve gotten it or that the songs we’re singing are something we can listen to and practice with.

By subscribing to the CamCast I’ll be able to feed music to you each week. You’ll still have the CD in January, but in March I can put a song that’s on the CD in the podcast and you’ll be reminded again of what’s coming next. It’s free. It’s easy. And it’s one more way to stay connected and be prepared. Who knows…on the CamCast you may even hear an occasional devotional or interview with someone involved in CAM.

Subscribing is easy. Here’s the address: http://feeds.feedburner.com/camcast1 - in iTunes all you have to do is click Advanced > Subscribe to Podcast > then copy and paste the address above. If you don’t yet have a podcast reader just visit the address above. On the right side of that page you’ll see several free tools that will let you subscribe to the CamCast and at the bottom of the page you’ll see the Current Feed Content. From that page you’ll be able to play and read the different posts that are already in the CamCast.

I’m looking forward to tonight and can’t wait for us to all get back together. Christmas was a whirlwind and God did great things. It’s exciting to consider all the great things that lie ahead for us all.

Love y’all, God Bless,

Chad

We’ll be preparing for this Easter every Wednesday night this semester. Make plans now to be here and to lead well!

THE GOAL OF CAM

The goal of the Christians Arts Ministry is worship. Our desire is to teach Believers to delight the heart of the Father with every area of our lives, passionately expressing our love for God through the use of every talent and resource He’s given us for His glory and His pleasure.

THE CAM STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE

“Imitate me as I imitate Christ.” I Corinthians 11:1 – It’s probably the most in your face, challenging Scriptures in all the Bible – to be able to, with honesty and integrity, look at someone else and say, “If you do what I’m doing you’ll be doing what Jesus did.” It’s a big goal, but it’s a goal worth striving for. Let 2007 be the year you press closer toward this goal than you ever before. What are your struggles? Where are your troubles? Be patient and wait on the Lord. He’s not finished with you yet.

For what do you pray? | For whom do you pray? To whom do you pray? | How then shall we pray?

Beginning January 2007 right here in theScore we’ll begin printing in this space that which concerns you enough to bring it before God. I could call this area Prayer and Praise. We could consider this our prayer requests section. And it will be those things—but I hope for it to be more. Let’s come together before God concerning those issues that concern each of us personally and corporately the most. Busy schedules, family & church events, physical needs, finances, family, friendship and business relationships, church matters, heart matters—let’s hear the need and petition with one voice the One capable of meeting that need, then let’s celebrate together the great things God does daily!

God is waiting. God is listening. In 2007 let’s spend deliberate time together in conversation with Him!
