Authentic - 28 Days

“My son, if you receive my words and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”

Proverbs 2:1 – 5

It begins this Sunday, February 4th. As individual members of First Baptist Owasso we will begin working through a prayer journal called ’28 Days – daily devotions to Value the Vision’. You’ll receive 28 Days in your Sunday School Departments. Copies will also be available in the foyer. We’ve set up a blog where you can go online to read the devotion of the day and perhaps days you missed, http://vtv-28days.blogspot.com. And we will email the devotion each day to members of the church

Our purpose is to get every member of our church in the habit of reading, reflecting, responding and writing about God’s Word every day. It’s so easy to let the business of life get in the way of disciplines that focus our hearts and minds around what really matters. We lay aside exercise routines for lunch meetings. We ignore family time for the job that pays the bills. We stop reading the Word of God and listening for the voice of God because the buzz of our daily life is so present and so loud we can’t pick His voice out of the crowd. In the midst of the moment the right choice is often hard to see. So today, like Daniel, decide beforehand. Choose now to take 8 minutes a day to read, reflect, respond and write about God’s Word. I guarantee it will be time well spent.

In the first paragraph did you notice the number of ways we will attempt to connect people to these devotions? Sunday School, in the foyer, a printed booklet, email, a blog, even during our services we will attempt to get people involved with God’s Word through these devotions. I see this list and I’m reminded that it pales in comparison to the length’s God Himself has gone to in order to connect with me. He moved heaven and Earth, become like me, sacrificed Himself for me in order to be with me. He wrote His will in His Word. He’s written His name on my heart. He’s sealed me with His Holy Spirit. He’s surrounded me with other Believers. He’s given me an incredible church filled with people who are willing to be His hands and feet….All for me.

He’s done the same for you. How will you respond to Him? Will you ignore His advances? Will you be too busy to try? Or will you listen and learn and discover His best for your life? That’s what a quiet time is. That’s what it means to have an unhurried time alone with God. That’s what walking with God daily is all about. He’s watching and waiting. His desire is for you.

Get in the habit of reading, reflecting, responding and writing about His Word. It’s never too late to start. If you’ve done it before but set it aside, it’s never too late to start again. In doing so you will discover all the knowledge of God and be transformed by the renewing of your mind, proving what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Love y’all, God Bless,

Chad

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Romans 12:1 – 2

EASTER

Sunday, April 8th – Our Services Caffeinated! Every Easter more people come visit us than any other Sunday of the year. So let’s make the most of this opportunity. We’ll do three services with an overflow venue in the Education Center led by a Praise Team. Jennifer Berry, 2006 Miss America will be here to share how God has made a difference in her life. And the Celebration Choir, Praise Band, Praise Teams and Instrumental Ensemble will all lead out in an incredible time of praise. We’ll be preparing for this Easter every Wednesday night this semester. Make plans now to be here and to lead well!

THE GOAL OF CAM

The goal of the Christians Arts Ministry is worship. Our desire is to teach Believers to delight the heart of the Father with every area of our lives, passionately expressing our love for God through the use of every talent and resource He’s given us for His glory and His pleasure.

THE CAM STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE

“Imitate me as I imitate Christ.” I Corinthians 11:1 – It’s probably the most in your face, challenging Scriptures in all the Bible – to be able to, with honesty and integrity, look at someone else and say, “If you do what I’m doing you’ll be doing what Jesus did.” It’s a big goal, but it’s a goal worth striving for. Let 2007 be the year you press closer toward this goal than you ever before. What are your struggles? Where are your troubles? Be patient and wait on the Lord. He’s not finished with you yet.
