Authentic—Life Change

What has God done for you lately? Did you even notice? How has God used the people of this church…your friends and family…to impact your life? This Sunday we will share the stories of about 80 different church members…we’ll do it in a very short period of time. In the end we’ll look across the platform and see a snap shot of who we are as a church and what God has done in the lives of the people who attend here. And this will only be a small part of the story.

Do you realize that every Wednesday you come to prepare, every Sunday you come to lead, that you are a part of God’s strategic plan for redemptive history in this community? The stories of life change you’ll see across the platform this Sunday happened because of the grace of God. And God, in his wisdom, has chosen to let us see it. More than that, He’s chosen to let us be part of it. Every week I hear more stories. Stories of people who are hurt, lost, alone, tired, stressed, pour, hungry, needy, sick, unworthy, unable, under valued, unloved, spent, wasted, worried, guilt ridden and abused. And every week, in His remarkable way, I see God’s tender mercies transform these people into confident, forgiven, valued, treasured, peaceful, joyous, humble servants, adopted into His family and overjoyed to tell others about Him.

And in no small part you are responsible for the change. That’s the thing for me that is most remarkable about how God works. He doesn’t need me, but he chooses to involve me in His plan anyway. And He’s done the same with you. As you see these stories of life change standing on the platform this Sunday recognize that those stories would not be the same without you. You may not know the people, you may not have led them to Christ or taught their Sunday School class, but your leadership on the platform in the choir, in the instrumental ensemble, praise band, praise teams or on the tech team…your time preparing, your invitation to an anonymous stranger, your participation in Sunday School, your tithes and offerings – these all work together to make our church what it is. And I believe we are a church you can be proud of.

I’m not talking about the puffed up, full of yourself, bad kind of pride. Rather the abiding security that comes from knowing that as much as is up to me I am following God closely and doing the things He asks. I’m doing this with a group of like-minded Believers who are all more interested in following God and doing things His way rather than pursuing their own ease, comfort and pleasure. And this is what a church is really all about; the people God loves coming together to worship and serve in order to accomplish God’s strategic plan for redemptive history in this place. It’s about life God’s way. It’s about life together.

For those of you who have served faithfully for years let me take a moment to say to you, “Thanks”. Your ability, your passion and your faithfulness to God in service to your church, obedience through tithes and offerings, and compassion for the world around you has blessed me and my family. For this influence I am truly grateful.

For those of you new to the church…welcome to the family. It is my hope that we will discover together the joy of following God in all the great adventures He’s set before us. Our choices reflect our commitment. It’s my prayer that as the seasons change and we face together the new challenges of the future God has for us that our choices would continue to reflect our commitment to our Heavenly Father and to one another.

Love y’all, God Bless,

Chad

Authentic - Obedient Follower | Active Leader

I’m tired of hearing about it. We talk about it way too much. And the worst part is, when lost people visit our church they don’t understand it, get confused by it and sometimes offended that we would even bring it up. We talk about it so much I’m kind of ashamed to bring my lost friends to church. Besides, I’m already doing it. I know what I need to know. I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. I really don’t need another sermon about it. I support what’s going on. I am an obedient follower.

What am I talking about? Evangelism, yup, the big ‘E’ – I can understand why people get anxious when we talk about the need for every Believer to know what Christ has done for them and to be active in sharing their faith with others. Boldly speaking the truth of God’s Word in love to the people around you is not an easy thing to do. Talking about sin in someone’s life is not exactly the most common of water cooler discussions. The topic itself to a lost person is pretty offensive. “Who are you to tell me I’m not good enough for God? Who made you the authority on how to get to heaven? Why should I trust in something I can’t even see? After all, every Christian I’ve met is either a hypocrite or selling something.” The objections of lost people to the gospel go on and on. So, can’t we spend our time as a church focused on something a bit more ‘user friendly’? I don’t see why we need to belabor the point.

Besides, I already know how to share the gospel and I do it as often as God provides the opportunity. See, I grew up in church. I know EE, CWT, The Roman Road, Share Jesus Without Fear, the Bridge to Life, the ABC’s, 4 Spiritual Laws, and FAITH. You name the program and I’ve been part of it, probably even taught it, so I’m already proficient at sharing the gospel. I know what I need to know. I’m doing what I need to do. We really don’t need to spend so much time talking about it.

Sounds absurd doesn’t it? The Bible speaks clearly of God’s vision for us in regards to evangelism. The value God places on our role in sharing the gospel with the world is unquestionable. He tells us to go make disciples. He has made clear our purpose as Believers, to be witnesses to the world of the manifold grace of God. I’m not overstating it when I say that you can judge a person’s passion for God by how committed that person is to sharing the love of God, the good new of salvation through Jesus Christ, with the lost world. Evangelism is not about making a church bigger. It’s not about making a church more influential. Evangelism is a spiritual matter. It’s a matter of the heart that affects every area of a person’s life. As an obedient follower I share my faith as often as possible. I’ve made adjustments to my life style so that when I tell a lost person about the salvation that comes through faith in Jesus Christ they are willing to listen. Not because I’m some kind of expert, but because they see in me a faith that is credible.

When Mike Napier talks about FAITH, when Pastor encourages the people of our church to learn how to share the gospel and participate in FAITH, when another Believer or church member asks my opinion of evangelism, I don’t shrink from the opportunity to tell them about the blessings God has poured into my life and my family because in this area I’ve been an obedient follower. As a matter of fact these words of life excite me. When I hear Pastor encourage the people of our church to know and share the gospel I’m ready with a hearty ‘amen’. When I hear that Rick Cuccio has led someone else to the Lord, when I see another one baptized, when I discover that in Mexico this year someone not only received a new home, they also received a home in heaven, I am filled with joy! At this point I stop being an obedient follower and I take another step of faith. I become an active leader.

As an active leader I look for opportunities to add value to the people God brings across my path. Sometimes this means offering a smile, a prayer, or a word of encouragement. Sometimes it means I share a testimony with them how God has blessed my obedience in evangelism. There are Believers and members in our church who aren’t yet comfortable sharing the gospel. The fact that they don’t share affects us all. I don’t question their devotion to Christ. It simply means they haven’t yet discovered the joy and blessing of simple obedience to God in this area of their lives. As an active leader my responsibility is to meet them where they are and help guide them to where they should be. And so every time my pastor speaks of evangelism I will be on the front row passionately affirming the value of one more soul saved. I will enthusiastically support every “All on the Altar” service where people are challenged to give their time to learning and sharing the gospel through FAITH. In Romans 1 Paul says, “As much as is in me I am ready to preach the gospel…” I’m with Paul. I’m ready to preach the gospel. I’m anxious to encourage others to the do the same. It’s a spiritual matter, really, a matter of the heart. In this and every way of righteousness I will be more than an obedient follower. I will be an active leader. Won’t you join me?

Love y’all, God Bless,

Chad

Authentic-Do You Trust Me?

We’ve called it ’28 Days’ – Daily devotions to Value the Vision. There’s so much more here than meets the eye, not because the writing is profound or the need so crucial, but because these daily devotions come from God’s Word. The longer I live, the more I learn, the deeper my understanding of God’s Word, who He is and His relationship to me the more I realize that being a Believer in Jesus Christ is all about TRUST.

Do I take God at His Word or not? Do I trust He will do what He said He would do or not? Do I genuinely believe He has my best interest at heart and that He knows better than I what will bring for me and my family life, liberty and happiness?

Salvation is about trust – either I trust Christ to forgive or I don’t. Think thieves on the cross.

Sacrifice is about trust – either I trust God will provide or I don’t. Think Abraham & Isaac.

Service is about trust – either I trust God will make a way or I don’t. Think Moses & the Red Sea.

Sanctification – the minute by minute process of saying ‘NO’ to sin and ‘yes’ to righteousness – that’s about trust – either I trust God knows what He’s talking about or I believe I know better than He does. Think Old Testament Joseph and Potiphar’s wife. Think New Testament Joseph and a wife pregnant with a child not his own.

So who will you trust today? In what will you place your faith? There’s so much more in heaven and earth than has been dreamt of in your philosophy. As Believers in Jesus Christ we claim we trust Him for the forgiveness of sin. We say we believe He has secured for us our place in eternity. Surely if we can trust Him for salvation from Hell and entrance to Heaven we can trust Him with our habits, our hopes and our homes.

We wrap ourselves with elegant reasons to justify the things we do. We surround ourselves with complex explanations for why I can’t possibly do this or why that will never work. Don’t con yourself. For every sin we commit, for every righteousness we omit we stand in the face of God and proudly proclaim we know better than He what’s best for us.

So today let’s look together at God’s Word. Let’s use the 28 Days devotions to do so and as you read, reflect – consider the areas of your life where trust is a problem. As you read the words of life which do you believe and which do you discard? Our knee jerk reaction is to say, “It’s the Bible, I believe it all.” But beyond the knee jerk reaction is the reality of our actions. That which we DO is what we believe. Everything else is just religious talk. So take 8 minutes. Read the words below – and don’t simply nod your head toward God in approval of His thoughts for you. Evaluate how much you trust Him. Where your trust is weak – commit that area to Him and discover that while we fail Him all the time, He will never fail you.

Love y’all, God Bless,

Chad

THE GOAL OF CAM

The goal of the Christians Arts Ministry is worship. Our desire is to teach Believers to delight the heart of the Father with every area of our lives, passionately expressing our love for God through the use of every talent and resource He’s given us for His glory and His pleasure.

THE CAM STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE

“Imitate me as I imitate Christ.” I Corinthians 11:1 – It’s probably the most in your face, challenging Scriptures in all the Bible – to be able to, with honesty and integrity, look at someone else and say, “If you do what I’m doing you’ll be doing what Jesus did.” It’s a big goal, but it’s a goal worth striving for. Let 2007 be the year you press closer toward this goal than you ever before. What are your struggles? Where are your troubles? Be patient and wait on the Lord. He’s not finished with you yet.

RESCUE – the Prayers We Pray

Lesa Harrison – Her surgery went great and the report came back favorable.

Praise God: “Father, You are the God who heals. Thank You for taking care of Lesa.

Debbie Robert’s daughter – is moving here.

Pray like this: “Lord Jesus, thank you for bringing family home. Meet the needs of this daughter in her career, in her home and in her family.”

Several People – Military Service

Casey & Desha Clawson’s son, Trey

Michelle Maxwell’s brother, Steve Ladd

Charlie Winans

Pray like this: “Heavenly Father, let these men and their families know Your peace, comfort and favor. Protect them in their service and assure them of Your presence.”

Previous Requests…

Wally & Lori Thrun’s daughter, Becky – does not have saving knowledge of Jesus.

Pray like this: “Dear Lord Jesus, open the eyes of Becky’s heart. Help her to hear, see, know and understand the gospel and why it’s important. Bring people into her life to continually plant, water and care for the seeds of faith in her life. Grow faith in her. Let her mom and dad know the right things to say and do to demonstrate your loving kindness and salvation.”

Darin Harrison – Change in job situation.

Pray like this: “Father, You will provide. Let Darin know peace in his career. Change his job (meaning change the nature of his work)…or change his job.”
